It's hard to believe it's only been a week after that day. Between the strange occurrences that plagued all of us through it all, it's easy to think that it might have been longer. It's hard to describe as well but everyone should know all that has happened.

Let's see... I hope my filters work properly.

I had a lot of time to think about it. I still don't remember all of the details...

I killed three. I tried killing six. And I messed with Ino's head.

Then that means you'll be getting the maximum number.

[ It's hard to say, of course, but he gets those words out anyway. 100 lashes and with Yuri barely recovered. He sizes Yuri up- some more time, maybe? A day, or two? Would that be enough. ]

[He knows what Flynn's doing...and he gives a reassuring smile]

Don't worry about me. This is punishment, remember?

I know... I know!

[ He shakes his head and steps closer. ]

But that doesn't make it any easier, Yuri. I know that you're here, back to your senses- but back then, I'd thought that-- [ sigh. He turns away and purposely avoids Yuri's gaze. ]

At a risk of repeating myself, I'll just say now that- walking different paths like this... Having to diverge too far from each other, and going too far a distance in our goals... I never wish to have to go against, or after you like this. I don't want to have to arrest and persecute you in the name of the Imperial Knights... but I know that if the situation called for it, I'd do it anyway.

[He walks closer to Flynn, resting a hand on his shoulder. So that's what this is all about.]

I don't like putting this burden on you. But we made a promise-

[He rests his head on his hand, effectively leaning on Flynn]

-and I'm no exception. You'll just have to trust me, Flynn, that I'll follow through with our promise from here on.

[His voice lowers]

Besides, what would everyone say if the Great Flynn Scifo set different standards for his best friend?

They'd say it's what most officers and nobles would do in the same situation-

[ He says that in a slightly playful tone but then sighs and bows his head a little. ]

-But it's not enough like that: letting myself follow their standards when I should be setting an example for my predecessors to follow instead for the Empire to become better... not grow stagnant.

[ Pause. Another sigh. ]

You better not be slacking off, Commandant.

[He laughed a little mirthlessly, still resting most of his weight on Flynn. Thanks bud! 8Db]

I guess it's unfair of me to expect you to do all of this. But it's necessary. The punishment must match the crime.

[ He sighs... but a bit more happily now, you slacker. ]

I'm just glad there are no real deaths here. I would hate to have to pass a death sentence on you, Yuri. I hope that when we return back to Terca Lumireis, you'll think hard about avoiding that.

Yeah, I don't really like the idea of getting the death sentence myself, to be honest.

So- you don't have to worry about me doing something like that. We don't have those core things, thankfully.

[ and then he thinks- ]

I'll keep better watch on Emil. As terrible as it may sound, if he turns again into that thing again then he might cause someone to do the same thing you did, Yuri, and that's not something any of us wish to see again.

I saw that. I'm glad to see they're getting along well but... that's an answer to another problem entirely, isn't it?

We need to find a way to completely ensure it never happens again. Somehow. [ and then sighs. ]

But by the way I sound, it's as if I want to lock him up and make sure he never comes into contact with any danger... somehow, this reminds me of Lady Estellise.

And we're sure as hell not doing that. He's a good kid. He doesn't deserve it. There's got to be another way.

...trading something for Emil's life. I don't know how these trades work, Yuri, but I know it gave us that house we're living in right now and if they could do that...

And what about the other people you killed? And hurt? Are you going to try and trade for all of those too?!

...You don't know how much I want to restore their lives. I took them away- and they were all innocent, Flynn.

And as easy as it is to do in this place... I also know better than anyone that that won't- it won't change the past.

The other people I killed besides Emil- I haven't even seen them around again.

[ This is why Flynn can't ever take his eyes off you, if he so much as left you on your own- ]

You're right. I don't- I'm not as selfless like you so I don't understand, Yuri. As much as I want to help them, I don't want to see my friend sacrifice himself to make it right.

[ Prevention is better than regret; Flynn knows this, knows that he would rather not have to deal with that aftermath and that's why he works so hard to take the pre-emptive. He's not as ready to lay his life down like Yuri- he's not as thoughtless... ]

[ And he doesn't know what to say to the rest of what Yuri said. But he knows... Flynn knows that he's being selfish. It's the right thing to do, technically, to return everyone's lives by Yuri and all the easier to with the trades here in the city but... but Flynn didn't want to see Yuri have to trade something precious for those lives. Didn't want to see him dead. ]

Just promise me that you won't do it, Yuri. We'll find a way to make it right by them, but don't make this as your burden alone!

Flynn. If I were any other person- would it be all right?

[Selfless...is it really all that selfless? It just seems right to Yuri. Here in the City, it's possible to give up his life to right the rights he'd committed. In any other case, it'd be stupid. But here, and now-
